Review: Verano G-Line G Purps Flower

Hello and welcome to another review! I do hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and have a great week beyond it! Today's review is of another Verano product and one that has quickly become a favourite strain of mine, G Purps. This strain is an Indica dominant hybrid that comes from crossing G6 "Jet Fuel" with Purple Punch. This a great strain for medical users as well as recreational consumers.

As with most Verano flower their G-Line comes nicely sealed in a glass jar with a styro sela on the inside. Unlike their Private Stock line though, it does not come with a humidity packet. I strongly suggest you pop one in after opening it, as it will improve this already good flower. I do have to say, though, that I like that I have been getting a tic more flower with the Verano products than some others. It is sold as a 3.5 (1/8th oz), but they actually list it on the label, under "usable" as 3.65 grams. Either way, they are giving their customers a lagniappe in every jar!

The aroma from the flower, when you open it and get to smelling, is fruity with citrus/lemon notes. There are also some melon-like and piney notes, as well. Very nice smelling flower! And, as you will see below, it's also nice to look at. While this is not the frostiest bud I have had, it is nice looking and had a decent amount of trichomes both inside and out. But, it was not as hydrated as it could have been and was just a bit towards the dry side. A Boveda pack fixed that right up after about 24 hours!

On the breakup I got to see those frosty trichomes on the inside. Again, not the frostiest I have seen, but not bad, either. It ground up very nicely and was very aromatic!

Now, on to the consuming! As usual, I started this off with a dry herb vaporiser. And, for a difference, I also had another (better and newer) vaporiser to compare my cheap beginners vape. So...on with the show!

I first loaded up my now retired Yocan Hit with ground up G Purps and started my session off at 360, in an effort to get the most flavour out of the flower. It was very floral and fruity with some spicy notes and is one of the better tasting strains. The Purple Punch comes through nicely. There wasn't a great deal of vapor produced and it was a very mild lift at this temperature.

At 375 it produced a good deal more vapor and the taste was more woody than anything else. At 390 it became rather harsh, but the ensuing high was rather nice. But...could it be better?

Well, my next session with the G Purps and a dry herb vape came via my newer Boundless CFX dry herb vaporiser. This was a game changer in consuming this (and other) flower. I cannot say enough good things about this vape! I'll review it in a future column.

At 350 degrees the CFX unlocked this flower! It was very fruity with mint notes and a very tasty vape! It did not produce any substantial amount of vapor, but if you like tasting those terpenes, you'll like this!

At 360 there was more vapor, but the result was veering off to being a bit harsh with a little diesel taste in the exhale. Not a bad start to the high, but not a big lift in this first 300 second session.

At 380 degrees, this flower really started to shine! It was nice and minty and there was a good amount of vapor. This temperature was ideal for getting great effect. It helped greatly with pain, relaxation and rest.

I ended this session at 400 degrees, to finish it off. Still mint notes with some fruitiness, but heading towards some harshness. There was actually an almost coffee-like flavor with some woodiness and a floral bit. This session left me nicely elevated and in a great mood for the evening. I had no issues getting to sleep with G Purps!

As usual, my next foray with the flower was to see how it smoked. Grind a bud, pop it in the bowl and fire it up.

OK, we all know that different flowers give you different effects depending on the method you use to consume them. G Purps is no different. While this flower is good in a vaporiser, it truly excels when it is smoked! This flower was made to be smoked. Bowl, bong, joint, whatever, when you smoke this herb the effects are fast and strong! The high from my bowl (a total of about 7 hits) left me nicely high. Pains disappeared, and I could feel the high in my face and head first. It puts a smile on your face! Then a nice body high ensures and the whole thing lasts about 2-3 hours. It can be sedative, so if you're not wanting to go to sleep later, monitor your intake!

My final word on G Purps from Verano is...outstanding! Just like their Swift Lifts using the same flower, this is a strain that should not be missed! Great for an evening at home or medicating to get some sleep and pain relief. This is one of the best Illinois strains around! Get some and you will not be disappointed!
